Stacey Pitts moved to Old Bridge in 2005. She currently lives in Madison Park with her husband Rob, daughter Kayleigh (OBHS 22), son Nathan (OBHS 25) and a myriad of animals. Stacey has been a registered Republican for 15 years. Stacey is a Special Education Teacher, in the NJ Early Intervention System. She also is endorsed by the NJ Association for Infant and Mental Health (NJAIMH) as an Infant Family Specialist. Ms. Pitts has been extremely involved in her children’s school communities since they were in elementary school. While her children were at Madison Park, she served as President of the school’s PTA for several years. She is currently the 1st Vice President of Fundraising for the OBHS PTSA. Stacey serves as a Co-Coordinator of the Old Bridge PTA Presidents Council. As a member of Presidents Council, Ms Pitts has moderated the annual Candidates Night for Board of Education Candidates. Stacey is the current secretary of the Old Bridge Education Foundation (OBEF).
Dawn Bauer has been a resident of Old Bridge for over 23 years, where she and her family have actively participated in the local community. When Dawn and her husband decided to stay in Old Bridge and buy a home, it was largely due to the excellent public school system. With two children attending Old Bridge schools, education has been a focal point for Dawn, who has been teaching in New Jersey for 25 years. She currently works as a math interventionist, offering tiered support to students in grades K - 4. Raised in a Republican family in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, DC, Republican politics has been ingrained in her upbringing. Her involvement with the GOP spans 29 years, influenced in part by her grandfather, who served as an elected Republican delegate in Virginia for a majority of her childhood.

James Schlachter has been a registered Democrat for over 20 years. He was a paraprofessional and elementary school teacher in the New York City public school system for 18 years. He currently works for the United Federation of Teachers as a member representative in the Grievance Department, where he represents teachers, paraprofessionals, school secretaries, school social workers, guidance counselors, and many other titles at arbitration hearings. He has worked with the United Federation of Teachers protecting and defending the rights of school staff since 2014. James has been active with the Old Bridge Democratic County Committee for the past year. He has long advocated for the removal of partisan politics from decisions affecting public education in general, and has been vocally opposed to extreme political and religious beliefs influencing the Old Bridge Board of Education in particular.
Associate Members
Old Bridge C.A.P.E.S. has several Associate Members from all over the political spectrum. Associate Members participate in C.A.P.E.S. meetings to discuss candidates, C.A.P.E.S. rules and bylaws, and the endorsement of BOE candidates.
Theresa Burns moved to the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge in 2009 with her husband and 2 children. She quickly took interest in the Old Bridge Public School system, which her children attended, holding various PTA chair and office positions. She was a registered independent from 2003-2013, and registered with the Democratic Party in 2013 to be able to vote in state and local primaries. She has been a registered Democrat ever since. She was elected to the Old Bridge Board of Education in 2019 and served through 2022. Currently she is employed with the Old Bridge Township Emergency Medical Services (OBTEMS) as an EMT.
